The earliest of the Vedas, Rig Veda, describes that Surya (Sun god) was born to the sage Kashyapa and his wife, Aditi. Vishnu Purana says that Vishnu’s power blazes in the form of Surya, and through this power, Surya nourishes, protects, and sustains life in the world and destroys the darkness of ignorance through his light.
